Abstract

The apartheid regime of South Africa is increasingly under attack on both the domestic and international fronts. Tensions have been mounting since the 1976 Soweto student uprising, and most recently there have been widespread school boycotts and workers' strikes. Concurrently, a less prominent crisis is threatening the South African economy—that of an international oil embargo—and the subject of this note is to report on this developing crisis.
