Abstract

The U.S. economy, which ever since the end of the Second World War had been expanding, is now in a tailspin. Thousands of manufacturing plants have closed down, and the production which they used to do has been transported to other countries where labor is cheaper, where natural resources are more available, and where the multinational corporations who own these plants are more powerful than the governments of the countries where they are located.
